Why PlanSmart Financial Group exists.

PlanSmart was built because we kept seeing the same problem repeat itself, people were being pushed toward decisions before they had a framework to judge them. The market rewards speed, hype, and “one-size-fits-all” solutions especially when the decision involves retirement timing, business cash flow, or major financial transitions.

Too many clients came to us with plans that looked polished but weren’t built for real life:

  • Strategies chosen without clear tradeoffs

  • Decisions made off assumptions that were too optimistic

  • “Plans” that were really just product conversations in disguise

  • And the worst part: clients didn’t feel confident because they didn’t truly understand what they owned or why

We created PlanSmart to be the opposite of that. A place where the strategy is clear, the reasoning is defensible, and the client actually understands the decision.

Education-first:

We believe confidence comes from understanding. We don’t lead with recommendations—we lead with the logic. Our role is to simplify complexity, explain the “why,” and help you make decisions you can stand behind.

Clarity over complexity:

If something can’t be explained in plain language, it’s not ready. We organize the moving parts—income, taxes, risk, and timing into a plan that’s clean, structured, and actionable.

Conservative assumptions:

We don’t build plans on best-case scenarios. We stress-test decisions using realistic, sometimes uncomfortable assumptions because the goal isn’t to feel good today. The goal is for the strategy to hold up when life changes, markets shift, or timelines move.

That’s what PlanSmart is, disciplined planning for people who want fewer surprises and stronger decisions.

Juan Jimenez

Juan Jiménez founded PlanSmart Financial Group after seeing too many people arrive at retirement with a plan built on assumptions instead of real numbers. For more than 10 years he has worked with federal employees, business owners, and families helping them understand what they actually have, and what happens if they're wrong about it. Much of his work involves federal employees facing elections that can't be reversed, and business owners whose company is worth more than everything in their retirement accounts combined. He is licensed in life, health, and property & casualty insurance, and works with clients in English and Spanish.
